Way back in May (seems a year ago) I made this Quilt as part of the Fat Quarterly Magazines Designer Challenge
Its now available for all to see in issue 10!
I was sent some fat eights of Lu Summers new range for Moda "Summerville" & a fat eight of a green solid fabric.
I also added in some blue and pink moda solids to make it a bit bigger
I went with a simple cross design to help show off the fun prints and colour.
I usually use a pearl grey cotton thread in all my quilting - this time I opted to match up fabric colours & cotton colours.
I didn't want the thread colour overtaking the colourful solids with the 1/4 inch echo quilting.
I used my 1/4 inch foot and straight stitched around and around...........
I started in the middle of the quilt and worked my way out.
The 1/4 inch echo quilting nearly killed me and took about 3 days..........
I'm glad I persevered - not sure I'd do it again though... maybe quilt every second one??
With the binding I used the blue moda solid and added in a little of the blue from the summerville range
A few others have made something out of Lu Summers fabrics - Grab a copy of issue 10 & you can see what everyone else has done :)
